So we started off the 2010 work year with traveling all the way to Singapore! Very exciting. It was my first time in the country, much less that part of the world. It was hot and humid…just the way I like my weather (I’m totally a tropical kinda girl). It was a wonderful break from the frigid, bleak and depressing Chicago climate…and despite the jet lag, I found my mind and body completely rejuvenated by the sunshine.
Anyway, the wedding events came and went, and before I knew it, we were rushing to pack our bags and make it back to the airport in time. The couple, Puja and Stephen were such a pleasant and relaxed couple, filming seemed like a breeze. Dan and David were able to sense when I needed help carrying a tripod/hard case to another shooting location and were a tremendous aid as well.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the results of lots of hard work and preparation:
This past November, I had another great opportunity to work with the guys at 3sixteen. Dan and I followed Andrew and Johan around New York for a day documenting their daily tasks, and were able to grab some pretty sweet sound bites from the inspiring duo.
My husband, Dan, picked up a few bits of video footage from a friend’s wedding he shot (he was the photographer using a 5D) and came home to me saying, “I dunno if you can, but try to do something with it.”
So, while I’m not all too excited about the messy shots, shaky footage, and inconsistent white balance, I am particularly happy with the “edit”. Definitely a challenge to say the least.
Here’s Meagan and Jon, in Illinois at the Morton Arboretum.
This couple was made of gold. LJ came up to me one day, with a last minute request for her good friend Amber. Amber wanted an engagement video to show all friends and family during the reception at her wedding. I agreed to the last-minute shoot somewhat reluctantly. I had no idea what was in store. The amount of love they showed each other and the complete humility and gratefulness they naturally possessed took my breath away. Amber and Evan are oozing with life and happiness. Again, What a great couple.
For this Chicago wedding, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with an amazing friend of mine, Lauren Johnson. She not only kept my energy sky high during the entire 12 hour ordeal, she also got some beautiful shots and provided a great deal of humor as well.
Here is the result of excellent teamwork and a bit of elbow grease.
So, the trailer to The Bill Collector is finally done. I unfortunately only had about a week to do this, on top of moving to my new place in the south loop. I was a little uneasy about showing this on the blog due to the fact that I don’t think it’s my best work…but as a friend recently pointed out, “sharing is caring”. Whatever that means…it sounds nice.
Just to note before watching, this is my first trailer. I found all the music on soundtrack pro and was able to come out with a decent mix in about 2 days. Research took me about a day, the general edit took me 2 more days…and then I ran out of time, so the color correction isn’t as great as it could be. Definitely a great learning experience, if anything!
This March I flew out to Pasadena, California to shoot a wedding for two great friends. I also had the great opportunity to shoot alongside Max Wanger! He and his fiancee are incredibly chill and easy to get along with. The weather was perfect, the company was a blast, and the couple’s style left me speechless. I had way too much fun trying to capture all the details…most notably Hanna’s amazing Vivienne Westwood shoes! I’ll let this little teaser say the rest:
During this past St. Patty’s Day, I had the great opportunity to go to NYC with Dan, my fiance, and shoot for these guys. Andrew, Johan and Devon were all really chill and down to earth with a real passion for what they do. I had lots of fun and was kind of sad I had to leave early before the shoot finished. I really hope to work with the 3Sixteen team again in the near future!
